As we have always had persians we make sure that the area around the hind legs and bottom are trimmed, as Persian allbeit lovely have issues squattin in the litter at times and it is a messy business cleaning all the surfaces they sit on. So I generall give a very careful and neat trim around that are to prevent any unnessary dingle berries LOL

Lets face it who wants to allways clean their cats behind

We have birmans and occasionally have the same problem. All we do to rectify is to pack talcum powder onto the affected area and half an hour later, comb out. This way we are able to still show our cats.

I don't have many problems with my Coonies even though they have fluffy butts. If there ever is the need to clean them I just powder and comb it out.

Thanks so much for the helpful tip with the powder! I usually have to catch Oscar and then try and hold whilst getting it out... usually cutting it out coz the smart little devil knows that its there and hides his bottom from me as long as he can. Last time I went to the vet she trimmed it for me so I havent had to worry about that for sometime.

What a great tip! Didn't know talcum powder could be used for that. Although my two Birmans are pretty good, we have had the occasional mishap, and it hasn't been pleasant trying to clean the remains off with a damp cloth - just seems to make it messier, particularly with a squirming Mishka! Mum Rosie is much more tolerant, probably used to it! Will definitely put this tip to use. Thank you!

my OLH have fluffybums, and Count's is extra fluffy and white! fortunately he seems to have nice formed poos so I have only had to wash a couple of times. I think he sits up high to poop! LOL

In my experience the problem with our persians is the tail... too many times they have emerged from the litterbox with poop hanging off their tails! Not pleasant when it ends up in my bed...

Actually it will amaze you to learn that even diarrhoeh can respond to powder....masses of it ........pack in the powder and brush it out....repeat the process and keep repeating the process. I have seen Perisan cats that have had this sort of accident in their carrier on the way to a show look and smell stunning....Wendy is an expert and taught me how to do it.......never touch with water or a damp cloth.
