Reverse Sneezing (pharyngeal gag reflex) in Cats

Also known as aspiration reflex, laryngospasm or pharyngeal gag reflex, reverse sneezing is more commonly seen in dogs than cats. It is caused by a spasm of the soft palate usually caused by an irritation such as mucus.

Generally, reverse sneezing is completely harmless but it is worth a talk to your vet to rule out feline asthma.
