Reverse Sneezing (pharyngeal gag reflex) in Cats |
|
Also known as aspiration reflex, laryngospasm or pharyngeal gag reflex, reverse sneezing is more commonly seen in dogs than cats. It is caused by a spasm of the soft palate usually caused by an irritation such as mucus. Generally, reverse sneezing is completely harmless but it is worth a talk to your vet to rule out feline asthma. Also see causes of sneezing in cats.
